Siddipet: The police cracked the mystery behind the death of an elderly couple, found dead in their residence at Nanganur on March 4.
The Rajagopalpet police, who cracked the case within 48 hours, found that three youngsters from the neighbouring Baddipaduga village, killed Avula Komuraiah (80) and Avula Budhavva (75) for their ornaments and money.
The couple were living alone in their poultry farm on the outskirts of the village. The accused Pasupula Sampath, Maloth Raju, Maloth Srikanth were addicted to liquor and other vices, police said.
They decided to steal the cash and ornaments from Komuraiah and his wife. When they resisted the trio, they strangulated them to death.
The police recovered Rs 30,000, two bikes, ornaments and three mobile phones from them after arresting them on Sunday.
