Travel Influencer Shehnaz Treasury Diagnosed With Prosopagnosia. Her Symptoms Will Shock You!
Actress-turned-travel influencer Shehnaz Treasury took to Instagram on Tuesday sharing her serious medical condition. Apparently, she is diagnosed with Prosopagnosia, a condition where one cannot remember or recognize faces. Requesting everyone to be `kind` to her, the actress mentioned that this is a `real brain disorder` and she isn`t being `aloof` or `snobbish.`
Taking to her Instagram stories, Shehnaz wrote, “I have been diagnosed with prosopagnosia. Now, I understand why I’ve never been able to put faces together. It’s a cognitive disorder. I always felt ashamed that I can’t recognise faces. I recognise voices.”
Mentioning some of the common symptoms of the disorder, the actress wrote,
“Signs and symptoms of face blindness/prosopagnosia. 1. You have failed to recognise a close friend or family member, especially when you weren’t expecting to see them. Yes, that is me. Takes me a minute to register who the person is. Sometimes even a close friend I haven’t seen in a while.”
“You have difficulty recognising neighbours, friends, coworkers, clients, schoolmates. People you know expect you to recognise them. Failing to recognise someone might make you seem aloof. Many sufferers report losing friends and offending coworkers because they have failed to recognise them. This is me. And I thought I was just dumb,” the actress who turned 41 today further added.
The Ishq Vishk fame also mentioned she has a hard time to differentiate between two movie or TV series characters who “have the same height and build and hairstyle.”
The actor who was also a part of Bollywood movies like Delhi Belly, Luv Ka The End, and Aagey Se Right concluded the story trail by saying,“I have always felt so ashamed that I mix up people and can’t recognise faces of people — even close friends after a few years. this is a real brain issue. Please be kind and understand.”
Not too long ago, Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt opened up about having similar medical condition. Sharing with GQ, he said he “struggles to remember new people” and “recognise their faces,” especially in a social setting or parties. It leaves an impression of him being “remote and aloof, inaccessible, self-absorbed”.
Shehnaz Treasury turned 41 today but kicked in her birthday with not so happy news. Hope you get well soon, Shehnaz.
