Tribal man sets himself ablaze outside police station in Telangana’s Jangaon, dies

Jangaon: A 24-year-old tribal man, who set himself ablaze in front of the Palakurthi police station on Friday, died while undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to reports, Lakawat Srinu, who had some dispute with his wife Radhika, was summoned by the Palakurthi police based on the complaint lodged by his wife.
Both husband and wife were asked to attend a counseling session at the police station on Friday. As the counseling was in progress, Srinu suddenly went outside the police station and took out a can of petrol from his bike and poured and set himself ablaze. The police personnel tried to douse the fire but it in vain.
Srinu was shifted to MGM hospital for treatment, where he succumbed. Before coming to police station, Srinu reportedly shot a video in which he had accused Palakurthi Circle Inspector Mahender Reddy and Sub Inspector Sai Prasanna Kumar and six others of harassing him and demanded them to be severely punished.
Tribals of the district are planning to seize the police station on Saturday demanding the government to initiate action against the police officials.
