Truecaller announces biggest update for iPhone users

On iOS 18.2 and newer versions, Truecaller will deliver real-time caller ID and spam blocking on iPhone

Hyderabad: Truecaller has announced the biggest update which offers the entire Truecaller’s spam and scam blocking abilities to iPhone users everywhere. It now has the ability to identify all types of calls making it on a par with its Android counterpart.

This has been made possible by Apple’s live caller ID lookup framework, developed especially for apps like Truecaller to provide live caller ID in a privacy-preserving way. This API uses homomorphic encryption and Truecaller is the first in the world to deploy this at scale for Caller ID, a press release said on Wednesday.

In addition, the latest update includes automatic blocking of spam calls, which iOS users have been requesting for a long time. Other improvements include the ability to search for previously identified calls, going as far back as 2,000 previous numbers in the recent list in the phone app.

“We see tremendous potential and growth in our iPhone user base and parity with Truecaller’s Android experience has been top of their wishlist. This update does that and more while preserving privacy for all calling activity,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO – Truecaller.
