The story centres around the ‘Basket Killer’ murders, which have perplexed investigators, leading to the case being transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Officer Sethurama Iyer solves it again, but this time they don’t make it look easy.
The CBI 5, the fifth film in the CBI series, was one of the most anticipated releases of Malayalam cinema this year. Although it received mixed reactions from critics on social media after its release, its legacy continues to draw in audiences. The film has been exceedingly successful and grossed a whopping Rs 17 crore in the first 9 days of its release. This is an outstanding feat for a Malayalam movie.

Sethurama Iyer has become one of the most sought-after characters since the release of the Oru CBI Diarykurippu. They were able to keep the story true to life without glossing over its darker aspects, making it a compelling watch. The officer is about to face his toughest test yet. The plot revolves around basket killing of several people who are all connected in some way. Sethurama’s investigation will unfold the reason behind the heinous murder.
Mammootty recently appeared in the drama Puzhu, and he is now gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated movies Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam, Rorschach, Bilal, and Agent.
