Mahabubabad: A woman’s obsession with television serials led to a suicide attempt that left her and her young son hospitalised after consuming pesticide in Kodipunjula Thanda of Bayyaram mandal on Friday night.
According to police, farmer Darawath Raju returned home after completing farm work and asked his wife Kavitha to serve dinner. She, however, told him to wait until the commercial break of the TV serial she was watching.
Angered, Raju questioned whether the serial was more important than his hunger and walked out of the house.
Upset over the altercation, Kavitha consumed pesticide in a fit of rage and forced it on her son Satvik. As she was about to administer it to her daughter, Raju returned and stopped her.
With the help of locals, he rushed Kavitha and Satvik to the District Government Hospital, where doctors said their condition was stable.
