Nirmal: In a tragic incident, two pilgrims were killed on the spot, while three others from Madhya Pradesh sustained injuries when a car, in which they were travelling, overturned at Burugupalli village in Mamada mandal late on Saturday evening.
Police said that Vijay, 57, a trader, and Sumita, 52, from Jabalpur received serious injuries when the car turned turtle at a curve near Burugupalli, resulting in instantaneous death for the two. Vijay’s relatives Nithin, Anitha, Sudhir, the husband of Sumita, were injured.
The injured persons were admitted to a hospital in Nirmal. Their medical condition is learnt to be stable. Overspeeding is suspected to be the cause of the accident.
The five were on a pilgrimage to Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam.
