Unable to secure crop loan waiver, farmer ends life in Mahabubabad

Dharawatu Ravi, who has taken loans from private financiers, was expecting to clear the loans through the loan waiver scheme, whoever he ended his life after his name was not visible in the beneficiaries list.

Mahabubabad: A 53-year-old farmer allegedly died by suicide in Dharawatu thanda of Domakal mandal of the district fearing that he would be unable to clear his debts as he was unable to secure the 2 lakh loan waiver promised by the State government.

According to reports, Dharawatu Ravi had taken a loan of Rs. 2.40 lakh from a bank and was expecting to clear it through the loan waiver scheme announced by the State government. However, when his name did not figure in the beneficiaries list, he went into depression as he had taken loans from private financiers.


On Monday, Ravi went to his farm and did not return home in the evening, the family members started searching for him. They found Ravi lying in an unconscious state in the field and rushed him to the government hospital. However, he died undergoing treatment.

The police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
