Untold stories of Telangana statehood struggle, challenges post State formation, achievements
A special series of stories, beginning April 26, will provide glimpses into broken promises, unsung sacrifices; to delve into the birth of Telangana Rashtra Samithi
Hyderabad: In the shadows of history, behind the headlines and political slogans, lie the silenced stories of Telangana’s long and painful journey to statehood. Beginning this Saturday, we bring you a special series of stories that digs deep into the untold chapters of the Telangana statehood struggle, challenges faced after the State formation and successes achieved on multiple fronts in terms of development and welfare.
The series will cover little-known events – broken promises, untold sacrifices and silent betrayals – bringing the raw emotions, political strategies and people’s resistance that defined the movement. It will also delve into the birth of new political leadership in the form of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) led by former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao that realised an impossible dream of statehood.
The series aims to highlight the fight for justice, identity and self-respect. It will provide glimpses into what was forgotten, what was buried, what statehood meant to those who lived its struggle, and what was deliberately erased from public memory. The series will also throw light on the journey afterwards – challenges faced in developing the State beyond anyone’s imagination and achieving a growth that was unprecedented for any State in independent India.
