Veerraju calls on Governor, seeks action against police
AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju called on Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on Tuesday.
Vijayawada: AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju called on Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on Tuesday seeking that he direct the state government to take stern action against police officials who acted in a high-handed manner against BJP leaders.
Veerraju, accompanied by senior BJP leaders, submitted a representation to the Governor complaining that Kavali DSP Venkataramana, One Town circle inspector Srinivasa Rao and Kavali rural CI Murali Rajesh acted in an inhuman manner against their party’s OBC leader M. Suresh when the latter went to file a complaint against Kavali MLA Ramireddy Pratap Kumar Reddy during the visit of Chief Minister Jagan Reddy to Nellore district on May 12.
The AP BJP chief charged that the DSP held the head of Suresh between his legs, making him breathless. The police officials further tortured and humiliated him.
Veerraju further said when their party’s Nellore district president Bharat Kumar Yadav wanted to submit a petition to the Chief Minister, he was pulled aside by police, causing him injuries.
The state BJP chief said though they had lodged a complaint against the Kavali DSP, no action has been taken against the latter.
Veerraju told media persons outside the Raj Bhavan that they explained to the Governor how police subject their party leaders to brutality. They requested the Governor to issue directions to state government to suspend the DSP immediately.
The AP BJP chief warned that their party will take up state-wide agitations in protest against the attacks on BCs.
