Vundavalli seeks debate on Margadarsi scam in presence of Ramoji Rao
Vijayawada: Former MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar has welcomed the response from the Telugu Desam representative, advocate G.V. Reddy, to participate in a debate with him on the irregularities in Margadarsi chit fund business.
But, I want it to be done in the presence of Margadarsi Chit Fund chairman Ramoji Rao,” he told the media on Wednesday.
The former MP asked the TD leader whether it would be possible to arrange the debate either in the Ramoji Film City or in the TD party office in Hyderabad in the presence of Ramoji Rao, so that “there would be a fruitful outcome” from the debate.
Referring to the TD leader’s proposal to have the debate held in Hyderabad Press Club on May 30, the former MP said the date was not suitable. “The Telganana government would inaugurate the newly built Secretariat on the same day,” he said.
Turning down the criticism from the Telugu Desam MLA Butchaiah Choudhary that Vundavalli Aruna Kumar was having no other work to do and hence “harping on insignificant matters,” the former MP said this was true. “My lifetime ambition is to take the two cases to their logical end — one being the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, and the other the Margadarsi Chit Fund scam involving thousands of crores of rupees.
He said that the YSR Congress government filed its affidavits in both the cases in the Supreme Court. “I see this as a positive gesture,” he said, and added that he was neither in favour of the YSR Congress nor the Telugu Desam.
The ex-MP said he had pinned hopes on Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan that he would bring in some changes in the state’s governance system, but he lost the election in 2019. “I am against the policies of the BJP but not against any political party or leader,” he asserted.
