Wake-up: Virender Sehwag posts sarcastic tweet after India lose ODI series against Bangladesh

Indian national team is falling faster than cryptocurrency, former Indian player Virender Sehwag took a jibe at Rohit Sharma’s team after they lost their ODI series against Bangladesh away from home. Rohit Sharma was only the second Indian captain to drop an ODI series after MS Dhoni, who was at the end of this unwanted statistic back in 2015.

“Cryptos se bhi tez gir rahi hai apni performance yaar. Need to shake up – wake up,” Sehwag wrote on Twitter.

The Indian side flanked after their batting order failed in both ODIs against Liton Das’ Bangladesh. In the first match, India were bundled out for just 186 runs, but a heroic performance from the Indian bowling attack kept them in the game. If it were not for Mehidy Hasan’s terrific half century, India would have surely won the first ODI.

In the second match, Indian bowling attack continued their form from the first match. The team removed 6 Bangladesh batsmen inside the first 20 overs, but once again Mehidy Hasan Miraz stood strong with former captain Mahmudullah to once again pull Bangladesh out of trouble.

Mehidy scored a century in the final ball of the first innings in the 2nd ODI to post a commendable 271 runs. Indian batting order once again failed to put their head up, and needed rescuing by Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel. India did not have Rohit Sharma at the top order today, who had to be taken to the hospital after injuring his left thumb.

Sharma came back at number 9 in the Indian batting line-up and played a tremendous 51* off 28 balls. India got eerily close to the target but fell short by 5 runs.

Rahul Dravid lauded the efforts of the Indian captain and informed that he would fly back to Mumbai for further scans.
