Warangal: Man accused in several theft cases held, Rs 28.50L worth articles seized

Police officials recover 334 grams of gold jewellery, 1.6 kg of silver jewellery, Rs 13,000 cash, a two-wheeler and a mobile phone from his possession

Warangal: A thief, accused in several theft cases, was arrested here on Tuesday. The police officials recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery, vehicles and other articles worth Rs 28.50 lakh from him on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here, Warangal Police Commissioner Amber Kishor Jha said that a special team of police nabbed Kondapalli Dharmaraju, a resident of Rayaparthy village of Warangal district, involved in several thefts in the Warangal Police Commissionerate limits and recovered 334 grams of gold jewellery, 1.6 kg of silver jewellery, Rs 13,000 cash, a two-wheeler and a mobile phone, all worth Rs 28.50 lakh.


The accused committed 17 thefts in Warangal Police Commissionerate limits — 8 in Kakatiya University Campus Police Station, 2 each in Hanamkonda and Hasanparthy Police Stations, and one each in Subedari, Sangem, Ghanpur, Palakurthi and Devaruppula Police Stations, the commissioner said.

The police noticed that thefts were taking place under various police stations in a similar pattern and formed a special investigation team under the supervision of Central Zone DCP Sheikh Salima, to nab the thief, Jha said.

On Tuesday, the police received a reliable information that the accused was heading towards Kakatiya University Campus on a two wheeler to sell the stolen property, following which the City Crime Station personnel and KU police jointly held checking and caught the accused.

During the questioning, Dharmaraju confessed to all the thefts. He was presented before the court and sent to judicial remand.
