Accused Maloth Pratap Singh, in a drunken state, allegedly took the Class IX girl into a room at the school and forced her to fulfil his desires; parents and villagers thrash him at school
Kothagudem: Villagers thrashed a Hindi teacher for allegedly misbehaving with a girl studying in Class IX at Sampath Nagar Girijan Ashram School in Tekulapalli mandal of the district on Wednesday.
The accused, Maloth Pratap Singh, in a drunken state, was said to have taken the girl into a room at the school and forced her to fulfil his desires on Tuesday. The girl managed to escape as her friends, who noticed the teachers’ misdeed, rushed to her rescue and opened the classroom door.
After the girl’s family and villagers came to know about the incident, they reached the school to question Singh, but he had fled by then.
The villagers and family again came to the school on Wednesday afternoon, found Singh in the school and, in a fit of rage, beat him up. With the help of the school staff, he managed to get away from the school.
Yellendu ITDA and Bodu police visited the school and enquired about the incident. Bodu Sub-Inspector of Police Srikanth told the media that the accused was arrested.
Based on a complaint by the girl’s mother, a case was registered against the accused under the provisions of the POCSO Act and an investigation is under way, the SI said.
The accused acts as the hostel warden as well.
