The bowling legend says winning and losing is part of the game
Visakhapatnam: “We can’t win every match. Winning and losing happens; it is part of the game. We are all confident and will bounce back, says Muttiah Muralitharan, spin bowling coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the eve of IPL league match against Delhi Capitals here on Saturday.
“We were unlucky against Lucknow Super Giants in the first innings. Then, Pooran (Nicholas) played one of the best innings for them. These things happen,” a smiling Muralitharan said.
“No one can predict the behaviour of a pitch 100 per cent. Well, it looks like it might take some spin, and the ground is small. Anyhow, in a T-20 game, one good performance can change the course of the match, ” the Sri Lankan great said.
“The spinners will enjoy it if they bowl well. But again the batters are capable of coming good too,” he said.
“We have a world-class bowling attack with some of the lead performers in the IPL in the last two seasons, with the likes of Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel. We have leg-spinner Adam Zampa and the captain, Cummins, who is a great bowler,” he explained.
“It is the media which is setting a target of 300-plus in this IPL (with a big smile). It needs only two batters to come good to cross that milestone. Nothing is impossible,” Muralitharan said.
“Well, there will be high expectations. As players and coaches, we don’t let them affect us. We will always try to give more than 100
percent,” he said.
“I feel the crowd support will be more for us since Andhra and Hyderabad have a connection,” he said with a smile.
