Withdraw Agnipath which is against national interest, says Tamil Nadu CM Stalin
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has issued a statement urging the Centre to withdraw the Agnipath scheme. The DMK leader claimed that the recruitment scheme was against the interest of the nation.
“In the interest of the country’s security, the Centre must immediately withdraw Agnipath, which is against national interests. It undermines the military ambitions of millions of young people,” Stalin said in a statement.
“Several retired defence officials and experts have expressed their opposition to the Agnipath scheme. Another retired Lieutenant General Raj Sathyan had stated that you can’t expect an army jawan to sacrifice his life who’s been recruited for a four-year term,” the DMK leader said.
He stated that apart from political parties, several retired army officers who’ve served the nation have stated that being in the army is not a part-time job. He said such recruitment would spoil the discipline of the army and urged the Centre to withdraw Agnipath, keeping the defence aspirations of lakhs of youths.
