‘Worst Coach India Ever Had’ Fans Slam Dravid After His Excuse To Cover Up Poor Results

When Rahul Dravid took over the role of India’s head coach after Ravi Shastri’s tenure ended, many had predicted that it will bring a positive change to the team environment and we will get to see Team India dominating world cricket.

However, things have not been easy for him as India lost the Test and ODI series in South Africa and had to settle for a draw even at home against the Proteas.

The five-match T20I series between India and South Africa was evenly poised as India made a remarkable comeback after losing the first two games to take the series into the decider.

However, weather gods had other plans as the series finale was washed out and both teams had to share the trophy.

Before the match was called off, Dravid gave an interview to Murali Kartik where he spoke about his journey as the coach of the team.

Dravid said while his stint with the team has been exciting and fun but what has challenged him the most is the constant shuffling of captains since he took charge of the side.

Dravid has worked with as many as six captains in the last eight months and he said it is not something that he planned when he took the job.

“It (coaching) has been quite exciting, it has been good fun. But it’s been challenging as well. We have got six captains in the last eight months, which actually wasn’t the plan when I started,” Dravid told broadcaster Star Sports in Bengaluru during the final T20 against South Africa on Sunday.

A lot of fans were not too pleased with Dravid making excuses for the series loss in South Africa and the poor show in India against the same team.

Dravid has failed in his only overseas tour as the coach of Team India and he will have his work cut out when India take on England in England next month.

The Rohit Sharma-led side is leading 2-1 in the five-match Test series and will play the rescheduled decider in Edgbaston, starting July 1 while they will also be in action in the shorter formats in the UK.

With a T20 World Cup coming up in a few months’ time, Dravid would be looking to better his record overseas and make a statement with his team’s performance.
