Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Telangana Party (YSRTP) chief YS Sharmila has been arrested for making “derogatory” remarks against Mahabubabad MLA Shankar Naik, confirmed Telangana Police on Sunday.
She has been moved to Hyderabad to avoid law and order situation in Mahabubabad as Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supporters protested against her in the district.
Sharmila’s arrest has come after a case was registered against her in Mahabubabad Town Police Station for allegedly making inappropriate comments against Mahabubabad MLA Shankar Naik. The case has been registered under sections 504 IPC, 3(1)r SC ST POA Act.
As BRS supporters staged protest in Mahabubabad, the YSRTP chief has been moved to Hyderabad by the Telangana Police to avoid any law and order situation in the district.
Sharmila’s controversial remarks came on Saturday during her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra in Mahabubabad.
Training guns at Shankar Naik, she said, “This shameless MLA has the nerve to use the most derogatory and filthy language against us for questioning his misdeeds and his failure to ensure good governance to the people of this constituency.”
“I wonder how these corrupt leaders should be addressed. What should we call them for failing in every aspect and not fulfilling any promise, and for resorting to corruption and land grabbing,” she added.
In a blistering attack on the MLA, she said, “Shankar Naik is a briber. He lost his job, became an MLA, and grabbed all the land. He is a liquor mafia, gutka mafia, sand mafia, jaggery mafia.”
