YSRTP leader YS Sharmila demands enhanced security for her padyatra

YSRTP founder and chief YS Sharmila Reddy submitted a memorandum to Telangana’s Director General of Police (DGP) requesting him to direct the concerned police authorities for adequate security for her padayatra, which she resumed on Friday. She also asked the DGP to take action against the politically motivated “anti-social elements” and said there is a serious threat to the party workers.

She said she has been receiving threats from the leaders of the ruling party in Warangal district that she will be targeted everywhere. Her letter to the DGP came in the wake of such threats demanding enhanced security for her padyatra.

She also requested the DGP to direct the police force to prevent the daily disturbances and asked him to take strict and fair action against the perpetrators.

Sharmila began her 4,000 km long ‘Praja Prasthanam’ padayatra on October 20, 2021.

Her letter to the police chief came just days after a group of unidentified people attacked and set her bus on fire in Telangana’s Narsampet town.

According to sources, Sharmila’s bus was attacked by some unknown people who raised “Sharmila go back’ slogans and poured flammable liquid, setting the bus on fire.
