New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI) Riding on a superb all round performance, Delhi registered a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Jammu and Kashmir in the first game of the North Zone leg of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here on Friday.
Put into bat after losing the toss, the visitors could only manage to put just 100 runs on board in the allotted 20 overs, courtesy a disciplined bowling attack by Delhi.
For the hosts, Pawan Negi was the pick of the bowlers bagging three wickets for 27 runs while Pradeep Sangwan and Nitin Saini picked two wickets each.
Chasing a paltry 101-run target, Delhi skipper and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant got off to a flier and hammered a 33-ball 51. He was well supported by other opener Sarthak Ranjan, who scored 31 runs and the duo stiched a 77-run partnership for the opening wicket.
After their dismissal, Lalit Yadav (11) and Himmat Singh (9) guided their team home with 51 balls to spare. For the visitors, skipper Parvez Rasool scalped two wickets for 41 runs.
