Delhi excise policy case: K Kavitha gets ED summons, seeks more time
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday issued a summons to K Kavitha, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter, for her alleged involvement in the Delhi excise scam. Kavitha, who is a BRS legislative council member, has been asked to go to ED’s Delhi office for questioning on Thursday. However, said she will appear before ED on March 11.
In a late night post on her official Twitter handle, Kavitha declared, “I will be appearing before the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi on March 11, 2023.” The BRS leader landed at Delhi’s IGI airport from Hyderabad late in the evening.
The summons came a day after the arrest of her frontman Arun Ramchandran Pillai who allegedly played a key role in benami investments and bribery.
Kavitha had planned to hold a day-long deeksha at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, demanding women’s reservation in law-making bodies.

“The Women’s Reservation Bill has been long-pending; our only demand is to table it in Parliament to give women their due share of political participation. Bharath Jagruthi, along with opposition parties and women’s organisations from all across the country, will come together on March 10 at Jantar Mantar, for a one-day peaceful hunger strike, demanding the BJP government to introduce & pass the Women’s Reservation Bill,” says Kavitha.
“In light of these events, I have been summoned by the ED to appear on March 9 in New Delhi. As a law-abiding citizen, I will fully cooperate with the investigation agencies. However, due to the dharna and prefixed appointments, I’ll seek legal opinions on the date of attending it,” she added.

Stating that the tactics of intimidation against KCR and BRS would not deter either the party or her, she said, “Under the leadership of KCR we will continue to fight to expose your failures & raise our voice for a brighter and better future for India. Let me also remind the power mongers in Delhi that Telangana has never and will never bow before the oppressive anti-people regime. We will fearlessly and fiercely fight for the rights of the people.”
ED has alleged that Kavita is part of South Lobby and was represented by Arun Pillai in Indospirits.

The Central Bureau of Investigation in December 2022 grilled Kavitha after serving notice as a witness.
ED had already alleged that Kavita acted on behalf of the South cartel to bribe AAP government officials and ministers.
The statement of accused Amit Arora to the Enforcement Director revealed that the South cartel of liquor contractors that paid Rs 100 crore to Aam Admi Party government’s key functionaries was led by P Sarath of Aurobindo Pharma, MLC Kavita and MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.
Both CBI and ED are simultaneously probing the case.
