TS police role model for country: Mahmood Ali
HYDERABAD: By successfully dispelling many misconceptions about law and order issues and the rise of Naxalism in the newly-formed state, the Telangana police department has stood as a model to all states in the maintenance of law and order and providing security to the people of the state, said Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali.
The minister, along with Director General of Police Anjani Kumar, inaugurated four new police station buildings constructed at Rs 10 crore at Tekumatla, Mogillapalli, Palimela and Kaleshwaram in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Ali said that believing in that establishment of a peaceful atmosphere can attract multinational companies thus providing employment opportunities in the state, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had not only provided advanced patrolling vehicles at a cost of Rs 700 crore for all the police stations but also strengthened Dial 100 system in the state.
The home minister said the friendly policing system has instilled confidence among people. The implementation of several new policies by the police department including deployment of women police personnel in every station, 33 per cent of reservations for women, safety and security to women and girl children, dedicated She-teams and CCTV surveillance have drastically reduced the crime rate in the state for the past eight years, he noted.
The police department was given full freedom in the newly-formed Telangana state by reducing political interference. Unlike anywhere in the country, a special Police Command Control System has also been established in Hyderabad. Of the total CCTV cameras installed across the country, there is the usage of 64 per cent of them in Telangana state only, he said.
MP P. Dayakar, ZP chairperson J. Harshini, MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, Police Housing society chairman K. Damodar, district collector Bavesh Misra, SP Surendar Reddy and additional collector T.S. Divakar were present along with others.
