CM to announce sops to workers in unorganised sector: Malla Reddy

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will announce sops to construction workers and others in the unorganised sector soon, said labour minister Ch. Malla Reddy.
He was speaking at an official May Day function at Ravindra Bharathi here on Monday.
Reddy stated that the Chief Minister was planning to set up special schools for children of workers and hospitals for workers and their family members besides distributing two-wheelers to them.
“He is working on several schemes for the welfare of construction workers and those working in the unorganised sector. The schemes are in the final stages of drafting and he is expected to announce them soon. Pensions for workers are also under active consideration apart from special schools and hospitals,” Reddy said.
Describing Rao as “employee and labour-friendly, the minister recalled that he was the only Chief Minister to have come to the rescue of local and migrant workers during Covid-lockdowns in 2020 and 2021.
“He gave free rice, money and other essential commodities to migrant workers. He arranged special trains and buses to transport them to their native places during the lockdowns. While the BJP government at the Centre insisted on purchasing train tickets, our Chief Minister came forward to bear ticket expenses. He called migrant workers as partners in the development of Telangana state. That show’s his love for the workers,” Reddy said.
He said lakhs of workers from other states migrated to Telangana where they are assured of livelihood in agriculture, construction, industrial and hospitality sectors.
“Due to the government’s good policies, Telangana has been attracting huge investments in industrial, real estate and construction sectors, which are also providing employment to lakhs of people. Agriculture sector has flourished and the rural economy is blooming due to improved irrigation facilities,” the minister said.
He said BRS will soon expand to Andhra Pradesh and other states. It is only Rao who has the capability to complete the Polavaram project in AP similar to the manner he completed the world’s largest lift irrigation project Kaleshwaram in a record three years.
