ANANTAPUR: Erra Gangi Reddy, the prime accused in the murder of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, is likely to surrender in the CBI court on Friday, sources said, after his bail was cancelled on a petition by the bureau alleging threats to witnesses and probe obstruction.
Gangi Reddy, who was listed as the A1 (main accused) in the case, was initially granted bail by a Kadapa court. While the CBI filed counters and sought a cancellation, to which Gangi Reddy also responded, with his counsel citing a lack of evidence with CBI for bail cancellation.
However, the petition finally ended up with the Telangana High Court, which cancelled the same and asked him to surrender by May 5, allowing the CBI to arrest him if he failed to do so.
The court also directed the CBI to release him after the completion of the investigation by June 30.
