ACB arrests two corrupt AP officials while taking bribe
As many as five officials were trapped on charges of corruption in the state in the last two days, said ACB director general Shanka Batra Bagchi.
Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has caught two officials red-handed while accepting bribes in two separate instances on Tuesday.
In the first case, in Rajamahendravaram, commercial tax deputy assistant commissioner T Satya Hari Srinivasa Rao was arrested while he was taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh at the joint commissioner’s office.
A private software company’s administrative officer Bala Veera Mallikharjuna Rao sent documents pertaining to GST and IT returns through his accountant to the commercial tax official. The officials claimed the documents were not proper and served five notices on the applicant. Then he demanded a huge bribe.
Based on a complaint lodged by Rao, ACB sleuths booked a case and trapped the commercial tax official.
In the second case, ACB caught police constable Prem Sunil Kumar while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 1.80 lakh based on direction from Chillakallu SI Kandula Durga Prasad.
The SI demanded a bribe of Rs 5 lakh from G Naga Malleswara Rao hailing from Abburu village of Sattenapalli mandal in Palnadu district to release a seized car, grant station bail and withdraw his name from the charge-sheet.
Based on a complaint from Rao, ACB booked a case and trapped the constable while accepting the initial payment of Rs 1.80 lakh. The CI was taken into custody.
