Mancherial: A tiger killed two cows in separate incidents in Mancherial district on Friday, triggering panic among farmers in Kasipet mandal.
In the first incident, a tiger killed a cow that had strayed into a cotton field on the outskirts of Buggagudem. Locals said the attack created panic among farmers who were harvesting the crop, causing many to postpone work out of fear of being attacked.
In the second incident, a tiger mauled a cow to death while it was grazing in the forests of Eggandi village in the same mandal. Forest officials inspected both sites and confirmed that the cattle had been killed by a tiger. They advised villagers to stay cautious and urged farmers to move in groups while harvesting cotton.
Officials said a tiger that migrated from Maharashtra has been residing in the forests of the Luxettipet range for nearly a year. They suspect the same animal may have killed the two cows to satiate hunger. CCTV camera traps have been installed to track its movement, and animal trackers have been deployed to ensure the tiger’s safety.
