Anand Mahindra reacts after Starbucks names Indian-origin Laxman Narasimhan as new CEO

Anand Mahindra is absolutely rejoicing the fact that Indian-origin Laxman Narasimhan has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of coffee giant Starbucks. He took to Twitter and wrote how the appointment of Indian-origin CEOs at the world’s most iconic companies has now become an “unstoppable trend”.

“What was initially a trickle of water has turned into a Tsunami. The appointment of Indian-origin CEOs at the world’s most iconic companies is now an unstoppable trend. International boardrooms consider them to be almost ‘safe’ leadership bets” Anand Mahindra’s tweet read.

Several users commented on Anand Mahindra’s post. A section of the internet said what they felt about Laxman Narasimhan’s appointment as CEO of Starbucks. “As an Indian-origin CEO/COO of a tech company I can see the big business move here. This is why we’re bringing #SolidBlockTech to India. Looking forward to work with you in the future Sir,” a user said.

“This needs serious research. The shareholders aren’t doing it out of goodwill for Indians. Knowing the corporate structure and competition, it’s a no-brainier. They may look racially diverse by these moves, but it could also be that these guys aren’t difficult to manage,” another user wrote.

Laxman Narasimhan was the CEO of Reckitt. The 55-year-old, who previously worked at PepsiCo as its global chief commercial officer, has replaced Howard Schultz at Starbucks. The coffee giant said that Laxman Narasimhan will join the company on October 1 but will take the helm in April 2023.
