Hyderabad: Despite complaints over lack of applications and ambiguity on a few aspects, including ration cards on the first day at Praja Palana programme, officials did not address the issues and many people faced similar problems at several centres on Friday as well. Braving the cold weather, people, especially women, queued up since 6 a.m. at many centres in the city. Cyber crimes push overall crime rate in Telangana by 8.97 per cent in 2023, says DGP

Hyderabad: Overall crime in Telangana has increased by 8.97 per cent in 2023, according to the state police’s annual report. The state also saw a rise in the number of cybercrimes this year, with an increase of 17.59 per cent. Hyderabad: Over 1.98 lakh applications received on day one of Praja Palana

Hyderabad: Over 1.98 lakh applications were submitted on day one of the Praja Palana initiative across all six GHMC zones. While 2.39 lakh households were covered, a total of 1.73 lakh Abhayahastham applications were received, in addition to 20,714 other applications. Charminar received the most number of applications with 43,798. This zone also covered 54,055 households. Of them, 38,504 were Abhayahastham applications, 5,294 were related to others. Kukatpally covered 44,976 households and received 36,465 Abhayahastham applications, receiving a total of 39,355 applications. LB Nagar (31,513), Secunderabad (31,414), Khairatabad (28,068), and Serilingampally (19,828) contributed significantly to the total count of applications. New Year celebrations: Hyderabad police issues traffic advisory

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police issued an advisory in view of New Year celebrations on December 31. The Outer Ring Road will be kept closed for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and passenger vehicles from 11 pm on Sunday until 5 am the next day in view of safety of road users. Medium and heavy goods vehicles will be however allowed on the ORR during the period. Bonafide passengers travelling to the RGI Airport in cars or other LMVs will be allowed on ORR if they produce flight tickets. The Nagole flyover, Kamineni flyover, LB Nagar flyover, Bairamalguda flyover (Sagar Ring Road) LB Nagar underpass and Chinthalkunta under pass will be kept closed from 10 pm on Sunday until 5 am the next day.

Hyderabad doctor arrested over alleged sexual assault

Hyderabad: The Madhapur police arrested a doctor working at a private hospital in Mehdipatnam for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman over a period of one year on the pretext of marriage. The woman, who is a native of Mumbai, was introduced to the doctor through a matrimonial portal in 2022. The victim at the behest of the doctor came to Hyderabad and met him. Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Avinash Mohanty on Tuesday ordered an enquiry into the allegation of the policemen using third degree methods to torture a man at KPHB police station.
