      IT raids on Telangana minister and relatives at multiple locations

      Income tax officials, on Tuesday, raided the residence of Telangana minister Malla Reddy and those of his relatives at multiple locations since 5:30 am. Around 40 IT officials also carried out raids in several of the colleges and other institutions owned by him. The move came at a time when the Special Investigation Team of Telangana issued lookout notices for BJP ally Tushar Vellapally and Dr Jaggu Swamy after they did not respond to the summons over the MLA poaching case.       Unemployment rate in Telangana witnesses sharp fall

      Hyderabad: The unemployment rate in rural Telangana has witnessed a sharp fall from 65 in 2017-18 to 34 in 2020-21, while in urban areas, it fell from 94 to 77 during the corresponding period. The unemployment rate recorded was for every 1,000 persons residing in the State. The all India unemployment rate too dwindled from 53 in 2017-18 to 33 in 2020-21 in rural India. In urban areas, it came down from 78 to 67 during the corresponding period. As per the latest Handbook of Statistics released by the Reserve Bank of India, the unemployment rate was cut down by nearly half in rural Telangana.       GHMC proposes 25 function halls

      Hyderabad: Buoyed by the popularity of multipurpose function halls among the urban poor, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has now proposed to establish more such facilities in Hyderabad. The GHMC has proposed 25 multipurpose function halls at a cost of Rs 95.70 crore out of which nine such facilities, developed at a cost of Rs 30.10 crore, are already available. Since the launch of the function halls, very quickly they have turned into a cheaper alternative for the urban poor to perform marriages and other private functions.       Telangana police aim to reduce road deaths

      Hyderabad: With an aim to reduce road accident deaths in the State, the Road Safety wings of the Telangana police have adopted a multipronged strategy of identifying and plugging the shortcomings in traffic management and training the stakeholders in emergency trauma care.       Temperatures across Telangana continue to drop; Sirpur shivers at 7.3 degree Celsius

      Hyderabad: Temperatures across the State are continuing to dip, with the real feel of winter gripping several districts where temperatures went well below 10 degree Celsius. In the last 24 hours, Sirpur (U) in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district recorded the lowest temperature of 7.3 degree Celsius, while by 8.30 am on Monday, the same place recorded 9.3 degree Celsius.       Hyderabad Traffic Police issue over 1.32 lakh e-challans for irregular number plates

      Hyderabad: A whooping 1,32,392 e-challans were issued by the Hyderabad Traffic Police against motorists moving around with tampered or no registration number plate, so far this year. The police also booked 525 criminal cases against the violators. Since the beginning of the year, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have taken up special drives in the city against the wrong number plates after the top brass noticed such vehicles were used in criminal offences. “During the special drive, we are seizing these vehicle for violation of the prescribed number plate display rule and lodging a complaint at the nearest local law and order police station.
