Major fire breaks out in industrial unit in Jeedimetla

A major fire broke out at an industrial unit at Jeedimetla on Monday morning. Seven persons sustained burns in the incident. According to fire officials, the fire started at Sridhar Laboratories located at IDA Jeedimetla.On being alerted, fire tenders from fire stations were rushed to the spot. The firemen are battling the blaze. The local police cordoned off the area. After the fire is controlled the fire officials will inspect the premises to ascertain cause of fire. Source

Telangana reports 252 new COVID-19 cases

Hyderabad: Telangana on Sunday recorded 252 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 8,31,874 so far. Hyderabad district saw most of the cases with 143. A health department bulletin said 291 people recuperated from the infection and the cumulative number of recoveries was 8,25,091 till date. The recovery rate stood at 99.18 percent. No fresh fatality due to the infectious disease occurred in Telangana and the death toll continued to be 4,111. The bulletin said 17,029 samples were tested across the state today. The number of active cases was 2,672.

Hyderabad: GHMC to set up 74 portable ponds for idol immersion

Hyderabad: Ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Cooperation (GHMC) will set up 74 artificial ponds to encourage people not to immerse idols in lakes. Out of the total number of ponds, 28 have already been set up. The civic body is already working on the construction of portable ponds, 22 of which will be artificial ones, excavations for which are underway. Water will be filled in the existing ponds shortly before the start of Ganesh Chaturthi. The GHMC will set up artificial ponds, near water bodies including Hussain Sagar, Durgam Cheruvu, Malkam Cheruvu and Nallagandla Cheruvu. Hyderabad: SNDP phase 1 work nowhere near completion, reveals RTI

Hyderabad: The status of ongoing work under the Telangana government’s Strategic Nala Development Program (SNDP) in GHMC limits and other nearby areas is nowhere near completion even past the previously stated deadline of July. A Right to Information (RTI) query filed by city-based activist Robin Zaccheus revealed that almost all of the works undertaken by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are currently still in progress. SNDP was formed after October 2020, when the city witnessed heavy flooding after cloud bursts and unusually strong rainfall that led to the loss of lives and damage to infrastructure. Hyderabad: Teen dies hours after eating biryani from restaurant

Hyderabad: A teenager reportedly died hours after eating biryani from a restaurant located in Lakdikapul. His father and sister who were also not feeling well were shifted to a hospital. Although the incident took place a week ago, it came to the limelight last night. Speaking to Siasat.com about the case, the SHO of Saifabad police station, Sattaiah, said that a sample of the biryani was sent to ascertain the cause of the death. Telangana: Junior colleges warned against withholding students’ certificates

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) on Friday warned junior colleges against witholding the certificates of students graduating junior colleges, in any case. “It is a responsibility of the principal to issue all certificate related to the students while leaving the Junior College,” read the statement issued by the board. This comes following an incident of an attempted suicide at Narayana Junior College in Amberpet. An accidental fire broke out after a student youth wing leader threatened to set himself up on fire if the management denied to release the certificates of students.
