‘Systematic leaking of fabricated claims’: Dominic Raab’s resignation letter in full
Dominic Raab has quit Rishi Sunak’s Cabinet following the conclusion of an inquiry into bullying allegations. Mr Sunak received the report from senior lawyer Adam Tolley KC’s investigation on Thursday and had been considering the findings since. In a resignation letter to the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister said: Dear Prime Minister, I am writing to resign from your government, following receipt of the report arising from the inquiry conducted by Adam Tolley KC. US and UK troops moving close to Sudan for possible evacuation
US and British troops are being moved close to Sudan amid growing speculation they could be involved in some sort of evacuation or rescue of western nationals trapped in the country by the outbreak of fighting a week ago. CBI issues notice to ex-J&K governor Satya Pal Malik for questioning in bribery case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has issued a notice to former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik in connection with its probe into an alleged insurance scam case, PTI reported quoting officials. Reacting to the development, Malik told PTI that the CBI has asked for his presence at the agency’s Akbar Road guesthouse here for “certain clarifications”. “They want certain clarifications for which they want my presence. I am going to Rajasthan so I have given them dates from April 27 to 29 when I am available,” Malik said. Lawyers can’t go on strike or abstain from judicial works: SC
Supreme Court. New Delhi: In a bid to amicably resolve tensions between the bar and bench and prevent lawyers’ strikes, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked all High Courts across the country to constitute grievance redressal committees (GRC). A bench led-by Justice M.R. Shah said that lawyers cannot go on strike or abstain themselves from court work. The top court said that if the member of the bar has any grievance or any difficulty due to procedural changes in filing/listing of the matters or any grievance relating to misbehavior of a judicial officer, then they can make a representation to GRC to ventilate their grievances. India reports 11,692 fresh COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours
Under the nationwide Vaccination Drive, India has so far administered 220,66,31,979 crore Covid vaccine doses (95.21 cr second doses and 22.87 cr precautionary doses), of which 3,647 doses were administered in the last 24 hours. PTI New Delhi: Fresh 11,692 covid-19 infections were recorded in the last 24 hours in the country, marking a dip from Thursday’s tally of 12,591 cases, the Union health ministry said on Friday. India recorded 12,591 on April 20, 10,542 on April 19, 7,633 on April 18, 9,111 on April 17, 10,093 on April 16, and 10,753 on April 15.
