India thrash England to clinch T20 series

Rohit Sharma’s inspirational leadership and an aggressive brand new approach saw India completely outclass England by 49 runs in the second T20 International to seal the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead here on Saturday. Batting first, India once again showed a start-to-finish aggressive intent while reaching 170 for eight riding on new ‘batting all-rounder’ Ravindra Jadeja (46 not out off 29 balls) after a sudden collapse during the middle-phase on a track full of pace and bounce. With the ball, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s (3/15) new found rhythm in the powerplay overs was superbly complemented by the skilful duo of Jasprit Bumrah (2/10) and Yuzevndra Chahal (2/10) as England innings imploded for a meagre 121 in 17 overs. If India’s…

Ravindra Jadeja deletes posts related to CSK, sparks rumours of rift

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ravindra Jadeja has removed all posts related to the team’s 2021 and 2022 seasons from his official Instagram account in an indication that all is not well between the all-rounder and the IPL franchise. Jadeja was named the captain of the CSK earlier this year after MS Dhoni relinquished his captaincy ahead of the IPL 2022 season. However, the all-rounder stepped down halfway through the 2022 season as the captaincy was impacting his individual performance. MS Dhoni took back charge of the team and Jadeja was later ruled out of the IPL with a rib injury, before returning on the England tour. Slightly over two months ago, the all-rounder ended a forgettable IPL season…

Kapil Dev: ‘If Kohli isn’t performing, you can’t keep youngsters out’

Utilise those players who are in form, don’t go by reputation alone, and prepare to make tough calls even if it happens to be someone of the stature of Virat Kohli: this is essentially Kapil Dev’s message to India’s selectors as they build towards this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. “Play in-form players when you have loads of options,” Kapil told ABP News. “You can’t just go by reputation, but you have to look for current form. You can be an established player but that doesn’t mean that you will be given chances even if you fail five games in a row.” Kapil was asked specifically if Kohli can fit into India’s current plans given his own lean run…
