Pedri has been confirmed as Barcelona’s new No.8 for the 2022-23 season, with the teenage superstar taking the shirt made famous by club legend Andres Iniesta for the upcoming campaign. The 19-year-old, who moved to the Blaugrana from Las Palmas in 2020, has enjoyed two superb seasons for the club even as they have struggled with a successful hunt for silverware during that spell, establishing himself as a mainstay at both domestic and international level for Spain. That rich form has seen him rewarded with a bump up the pecking order for next term – and it will see him follow in the footsteps of Iniesta, as well as some other famous names at Camp Nou. What was Pedri’s previous number at…

India cricketer Mohit Sharma recalled how his fans turned against him when he — while playing for Haryana against Mumbai in Lahli — scalped the prize wicket of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on five in the first innings in 2013. Mohit’s joy soon turned into despair as after the wicket, his own fans started yelling at him in the stadium. “Ajay (Jadeja) bhai is quite expressive on and off the field both. I was bowling when Sachin Paaji came in to bat. The wicket in Lahli is quite conducive for bowling and Ajay bhai told me to try and get Paaji to play on the front foot. And exactly the same happened as the ball pitched on off and nipped…

Both Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow went for their individual hundreds and made sure to stay in the middle until the task was completed, making the Indian bowling attach appear hopeless. The fans did not like former Indian batter Virender Sehwag’s comment after the defeat. The two England veterans pulled off a stunning run-chase, the highest by the Three Lions in Test matches, to prevent what at one point appeared to be an easy victory for India. Both Bairstow and Root combined for 269 runs for the fourth wicket as England defeated India by seven wickets at Edgbaston to win the test match and draw the highly anticipated series at 2-2 despite needing an absurd 378 runs to win in the fourth innings. …
