CBI team reaches Kurnool hospital to grill YS Avinash Reddy

CBI officials reach Vishwabharati Hospital in Kurnool to arrest YS Avinash reddy.

Kurnool: Amid the protests of his party cadres, CBI officers reached Vishwabharati Hospital in Kurnool on Monday morning to question YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy in connection with the YS Vivekananda Murder case.

According to sources, YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy wrote to CBI on last Saturday seeking 10-day relief from questioning in connection with the YS Vivekananda Murder case, stating his mother’s ill health as the reason. But CBI has issued him a fresh summon to appear before investigating officer today.

The CBI team reached the hospital today morning and police blocked the roads and didn’t allow the YSRCP cadre to reach the hospital.

Meanwhile, tension escalated in Kurnool city, especially at the Viswabharathi Hospital amidst reports of possible arrest of YS Avinash Reddy. YSRC leaders and supporters gathered in large numbers, to resist the CBI officials’ attempts to arrest Reddy. The CBI sought the help of Superintendent of Police G Kishnakanth in taking Avinash into custody.

Avinash’s mother, Srilakshmi, had previously been admitted to Viswabharathi Hospital for a heart-related ailment and was undergoing treatment. Avinash, who skipped the CBI questioning, reached Kurnool a few days ago, leading to rumors of his impending arrest.

The ruling party activists obstructed the movement of CBI officials and media personnel at the hospital, creating tense situation.

Earlier, Avinash Reddy’s followers attacked the media personnel who had come to the hospital for reporting.  Three media reporters were injured, and several cameras have been destroyed. The police did not immediately respond to the attack on the media.

The Indian Journalists’ Union leaders have demanded immediate arrest of YSRCP activists and others who are responsible for the attack on journalists at Viswabharathi Hospital.

According to doctors at Viswabharathi Hospital, Avinash Reddy’s mother, Srilakshmi, is suffering from a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (heart attack) and has been diagnosed with double-vessel disease. She is currently in the Coronary Care Unit and is being monitored by a team of doctors.

TDP politburo member Bonda Bonda Umamaheswara Rao criticized the Kurnool SP, stating that they are not cooperating with Avinash Reddy’s arrest and are following orders from Tadepalli. Uma expressed concerns over the alleged control of the Kurnool hospital by Pulivendula gangs.
