HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday laid the foundation for the Hare Krishna Movement’s Heritage Tower, a 400-foot-tall structure that will be built on a six-acre campus in Narsingi at a cost of Rs 200 crore, and announced a Rs 25-crore donation for the tower, which is being billed as another cultural landmark for the city.

“Whether it is cholera or Corona, you will be the first to come forward and extend help to the poor and needy,” Rao remarked of the Hare Krishna Movement’s work to support the poor and needy during the Covid pandemic and other disasters. “Hare Krishna Sansthan should also work hard to check the evil consequences that may erupt in the name of religion. Those who sincerely believe in religion never want violence,” Rao said.

The CM stated that peace will prevail through the prayers held in religious places. “If we want peace, spiritual environment, and peaceful life, it is possible through temples, mosques and churches,” he said.  The CM desired that the Heritage Tower be constructed swiftly and that it serve the people spiritually and socially.

“I am announcing Rs 25 crore on behalf of the state government for the construction of the temple undertaken by Hare Krishna. The state government supports organisations that promote peace and spirituality,” Rao asserted.

Rao stated that the Telangana state government was receiving accolades for the magnificent renovation of the Yadadri temple. He went on to say that the state government was also developing temples in Vemulawada, Kondagattu and Kaleshwaram to promote spirituality.

He praised the Hare Krishna Movement’s support for the Telangana government.  “Akshaya Patra is supplying meals to schoolchildren through Annapoorna and providing food for the poor in the city without pausing for a single day. This demonstrates their commitment. On behalf of the people of Telangana, I thank you, Akshaya Patra,” the CM remarked.

The Heritage Tower will be constructed according to Kakatiya architecture to preserve Telangana’s historical and cultural legacy, and will provide accommodation facilities for 1,500 devotees.  Accommodation will be made available in order to organise food donations for 500 people at a time.

The temple constructions will include a library, Kalyana auditorium, open air theatres, lecture halls, a queue complex and guest rooms. Lord Krishna’s history, teachings, and technologically advanced laser shows will be made available. The Heritage Tower is expected to draw thousands of foreign tourists.
