Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 leaves critics in tears ‘Emotional and heartbreaking finale’

It’s been almost a decade since Guardians of the Galaxy‘s gamble paid off. The cosmic MCU adventure with little-known Marvel characters was a critical and box office hit and by the sounds of it, the third and final chapter to James Gunn’s trilogy will be even better. Some lucky critics were able to see an early screening in Disneyland Paris around a European press event with Chris Pratt and his co-stars this week. Here are some of the first reactions, which are all glowing.

Digital SpyGuardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is a brilliant end to a brilliant trilogy. It’s very funny, emotional and everybody gets their stand-out moment. Will Poulter’s Warlock is a terrific addition, yet the focus is rightly on telling a satisfying end for the Guardians. Gonna miss them.

Absolute RadioAfter seeing it twice I can safely say Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 completes the perfect MCU trilogy. It’s heartbreaking and hilarious and I’ve loved this team from the first ooga shaka. A blast for 10 years

JOECan confirm that I shed a tear during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. And that I would very happily watch an Adam Warlock solo movie.

El Español[Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3] has spectacular action set pieces, is fun, entertaining and emotional. It is a perfect and beautiful closure for its characters and the saga. And it’s the best Marvel movie since Endgame (and Top3 in general)

AtomEMOTIONAL. SHOCKING. BOLD. James Gunn delivers a true EPIC exploring themes of love, destiny & getting head. This isn’t just another MCU film, it’s one of the BEST sci-fi movies ever! A fitting end to his journey while also setting up what’s next

MovieZineGuardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is, more than ever, Star Wars as a stoner comedy. Lovable weirdos, big Marvel action and goofy jokes. But nothing can prepare you for all the emotions. Rocket Raccoon’s origin story is beautiful and heart-wrenching.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 hits cinemas on May 3, 2023.
