PM Modi’s security details leaked before Kerala trip, claims Union minister

Union Minister of State V Muraleedharan on Sunday claimed that details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security arrangements were leaked to the media days before his trip to Kerala and accused the Left government of remaining silent on the issue.

Recently, a 49-page report by ADGP (Intelligence) with details of the names of officials on duty, their role and detailed programme chart of the prime minister was telecast on Malayalam media, with the BJP claiming the “leak” was a grave mistake on the part of the Kerala Police.

“It’s surprising that the details of the security arrangements that were proposed to be organised for the PM got leaked into the media and WhatsApp groups,” Muraleedharan was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“But the most surprising thing is the silence that is maintained by the Kerala government. Within 24 hours, the person responsible should have been identified, but no action being taken,” he added.

The BJP has sought an explanation from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the alleged leak days before PM Modi’s visit to the state.

PM Modi will arrive in Kerala on April 24 for a two-day visit and attend a host of programmes including the flagging off of the much-awaited Vande Bharat Express train in Thiruvananthapuram.

The prime minister is also visiting the southern state amidst the BJP’s massive minority outreach programme that apparently has evoked a positive response from a section of priests of various Christian denominations.
