Gunman at Cyberabad Police Commissioner’s office arrested for extortion in Moinabad
Shekhar threatened some residents from Moinabad and extorted about Rs 25 lakh from them
Hyderabad: The gunman of Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty was reportedly arrested by the police in connection with a threatening and extortion case in Moinabad on Thursday.
Shekhar, an Armed Reserve constable from Qutubuddin village in Moinabad has been working as the gunman at the Commissioner’s office for the past few years.
As per available information, recently, some residents from Moinabad had entered into a hawala deal with four persons from Karnataka in a farm house located on the city outskirts. Upon learning of the matter, Shekhar allegedly threatened them and extorted about Rs 25 lakh from them.
When he continued to threaten, the victims approached the police and lodged a complaint. Following which, the Moinabad police booked a case and arrested Shekhar.
They are investigating if anyone else is involved in the incident.
