Hyderabad boy loses Rs 36 lakh playing mobile games

Hyderabad: A teenager played online games using his mother and grandfather’s money without their knowledge and lost Rs. 36 lakhs over a period of time.

The teenager, a resident of Amberpet in the city, had downloaded a free fire gaming app on his grandfather’s mobile phone a few months ago. As he had access to his mother’s online bank account credentials, the boy initially used small amounts to play the game.

However, without knowledge of his mother or grandfather, he started regularly playing and spent Rs. 36 lakh on the online games.

The family came to know about his activities after they found huge amount deducted from their bank accounts. The boy had withdrawn around Rs. 27 lakh from the bank account of his mother and another Rs. 9 lakh from his grandfather’s account.

The woman approached the Hyderabad cybercrime police and made a complaint. “We are writing to the company informing about the complaint made by the family and will see what can be done in the case,” said an official of Hyderabad Cyber crime.
