Hyderabad: The Medchal police solved the murder of G Umesh (24), which took place in full public view at Medchal bus depot on Sunday, and arrested five youths including the victim’s brother and cousins for the killing on Monday.
The arrested suspects are identified as G Rakesh, the younger brother of the victim, G Laxman, B Naveen, B Suresh and B Naresh, all cousins of the victim. They all are residents of Medchal and natives of Kamareddy district.
According to the police, Umesh, who was a private employee was addicted to alcohol and harassed his brother Rakesh and other family members over trivial matters.
“It is found that Umesh had a criminal record and nine cases including robbery and snatching were booked against him in Kamareddy district. He was also convicted in two cases,” said N Koti Reddy, DCP, Medchal.
Rakesh was vexed with Umesh’s behaviour towards the family and decided to eliminate him. He shared his intention with his cousins and they too agreed to support him.
As per their plan, on Sunday afternoon, they all went to Umesh’s house in RTC Colony in Medchal and found him in an inebriated condition again.
“They caught the victim and stabbed him. However, he escaped from them and ran towards the main road. Rakesh and Laxman chased him and stabbed him to death with two knives in full public view,” Koti Reddy said.
The Medchal police booked a case and based on witness statements and technical evidence, suspects were identified and nabbed in a room at Kandlakoya in Medchal. Two bikes and 2 mobile phones were also recovered.
