Hyderabad: The Chandrayangutta police arrested a mason for allegedly killing a woman construction worker at her house nearly a week ago.
The arrested Julfikar Ali (43), a resident of Chandrayangutta and a native of West Bengal was into friendship with the woman Kethavath Bujji. He stayed in a room adjacent to the house of the victim at Chandrayangutta.
According to the police, the man and the woman developed an illegitimate relationship and the lady for a few months was pressurizing Julfikar for marriage. Julfikar was already married and did not intend to marry the woman. He planned to kill the woman and end the relationship at any cost.
On May 8, the suspect went to the house of the victim at Chandrayangutta and after spending some time there, Julfikar slit her throat leading to her death. He then attempted to burn the body by setting the bedding on fire, said P Kantilal Subhash, DCP (south east).
The police had registered a case after coming to know about the murder and started an investigation. On suspicion they picked up Julfikar, who on interrogation admitted to have murdered the woman. He was arrested and remanded.
