Johnny Depp Returns As Captain Jack Sparrow For Terminally Ill 11-year-old Fan; Wins Hearts

On Sunday, a YouTube channel run by a child named Kori, 11, titled “Kraken The Box,” posted a personal video that Depp, 59, recently sent in collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The actor appeared in the video, reprising his character from the Pirates of the Caribbean blockbusters.

“So, Capt. Kori, terribly sorry I missed out on this. I meant to say it, forgot to say it, didn’t say it, gonna say it now. Saying it, I’ll say it,” said  Depp, who can be seen dressed as Jack Sparrow, equipped with iconic crossbones, skull headgear, and numerous tattoos.

He adds, “I hear tell of something they speak about in the ages of now called the YouTube channel, which I don’t understand, but why not?”

Depp says he “shall be glad to follow your YouTube channel, and I shall tell all my friends to follow your Youtube channel.”

Kori’s YouTube channel has had 176,000 subscribers since it was made on November 28. Most of the videos on it are about pirates.

Depp, playing the eccentric Jack Sparrow, said of the video-sharing app, “I think it will make for a great entertainment experience to have a momentary lapse of being together but far apart and then being very close.”

Curious, enduring and strange.””I wish you the best of luck. I am your No. 1 fan, Capt. Kori,” Depp blew a kiss to the camera and said to finish the clip.

As Kori is in hospice care following many heart operations, Make-A-Wish contacted the actor with “a timely ask.”, said a source in People magazine.

The source adds that Kori is a “massive” fan of Jack Sparrow and watches the Pirates movies “during his multiple heart surgeries and subsequent recovery periods”.

Kori and his mother uploaded a YouTube video titled “THANK YOU FOR 1000 SUBS!” where Kori’s mother stated that her son has already received two heart transplants and is in palliative care.

“So we’re making the most of whatever time we have left by not going to school—bonus—not doing any housework, living in our pajamas, and basically slumming it,” she says in the video.

“We’re just kind of focusing on making life as good as we possibly can and having as much fun as we can when we can.”

On Tuesday, Kori uploaded another video in which he conversed with Depp, who was still in character as Jack Sparrow. The actor promised to give Kori the official title of “Captain Kori.”

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Johnny Depp’s association with the Pirates of the Caribbean film series in the aftermath of his widely publicized defamation battle with ex-wife Amber Heard, the actor has a history of contributing to hospitals and visiting sick children while dressed as Jack Sparrow.

He first played a role in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, and he returned to it for the fifth movie in the series, released in 2017.
