After having a fabulous global run at the box office, Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback vehicle Pathaan is now minting money in Bangladesh. The YRF actioner is one of the first Bollywood movies to have released in the country since 1971.

The Siddharth Anand directorial opened on May 12 in Bangladesh (last Friday), and has already earned an impressive 25 lakh Bangladeshi takas on opening day, which comes up to Rs 19.13 lakh in Indian currency, reported Bollywood Hungama. Considering that the movie had opened in only 41 theatres, this is a remarkable achievement.

Indian-based distributor Satadeep Saha, who is responsible for Pathaan’s release in Bangladesh, said that Pathaan has outperformed big-ticket Hollywood releases such as Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. “We released Pathaan in 41 cinemas in Bangladesh. The opening is terrific and one of the biggest of the year,” said Saha.

Pathaan has grossed almost Rs 1000 crore internationally, and Rs 500 crore domestically, making it easily the biggest hit of 2023 in India till now. Helmed by War fame Siddharth Anand, Pathaan also featured Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Ashutosh Rana and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles. The film is a part of the larger spy-universe which is being created by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. Sidharth Anand is now currently focusing his energies on Fighter, which will star Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, with Anil Kapoor.

Meanwhile, after the blockbuster success of Pathaan, superstar Shah Rukh Khan is looking forward to the release of Atlee’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. He also has the actioner Tiger vs Pathaan in pipeline, which will also be directed by filmmaker Siddharth Anand.
