Punjab Police detains Amritpal’s aide from airport during his bid to flee to UK
Punjab Police on Thursday detained an aide of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh from the international airport in Amritsar as he was trying to flee the country.
Gurinder Singh, an aide of Waris Punjab De head Amritpal Singh, was detained at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport as he was trying to take an Air India flight to London.
Police had earlier issued a lookout notice against Gurinder Singh.
Gurinder Singh, who hails from Jalandhar, had been handling Amritpal’s social media accounts.
Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his supporters, some of them brandishing swords and guns, broke through barricades and barged into a police station in Ajnala on the outskirts of Amritsar city on February 24.
They extracted an assurance from the police that Amritpl Singh’s aide and kidnapping case accused Lovepreet Singh Toofan would be released. Six policemen were injured in the clashes.
