Shah, Nadda ask Bandi to intensify campaign against KCR govt

HYDERABAD: The top brass of the BJP, including Union home minister Amit Shah and party president J.P. Nadda, threw their weight behind state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and urged him to intensify the agitation against the K. Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS government for its “anti-people and undemocratic policies” as well as draw attention to the issues faced by the people.

Following Sanjay’s release from the Karimnagar jail on Friday morning, Nadda and Shah, who called the state party chief to inquire about his well-being, reportedly encouraged and supported him, urging him to intensify the agitation for justice for the people and holding the BRS government accountable for its wrongdoings.

The top BJP leaders reportedly told Sanjay that the party stood behind him and the people in the fight against the BRS government. Union minister Smriti Irani and BJP general secretary Sunil Bansal, who is in charge of the party’s organisational affairs in Telangana, were among the others who reached out to Sanjay.

BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh, who spoke to the media along with Sanjay in Karimnagar, maintained the events of the past few days “are a victory for Telangana students and youth. It is also a victory for all those who are standing up against the loot and undemocratic and unlawful acts of the KCR government.”

While stating that Sanjay’s release was a slap in the face for the KCR government, Chugh claimed that, “Sanjay emerged as not only Telangana’s hero leading the battle against the corrupt and dictatorial KCR, but also as an inspiration for everyone else”.

“The Chief Minister must understand that jail walls and bars can no longer contain the anger people of the state have against the KCR government,” Chugh continued in the same tone. According to Chugh, Telangana was under the control of a “loot mafia,” which has now evolved into the “question paper leak mafia”.

“How did these leaks happen? Who is in the kingpin behind these leaks? The BRS government manufactured Sanjay’s arrest to deflect public attention away from these questions. We have an Alibaba government in Telangana, as well as 40 thieves who are plundering the people and the state. KCR put the final nail in his own coffin with the arrest of Sanjay,” he remarked. Chugh further demanded that a sitting High Court judge investigate both the TSPSC and SSC paper leaks, that Rs 1 lakh be paid to each student affected by the TSPSC paper leaks, and that KTR be sacked from the Cabinet.
