Hyderabad: Strongly opposing the State government’s latest guidelines assigning two per cent of the teachers from schools across the State for inspections, the Telangana Prantha Upadhyaya Sangam (TPUS) demanded immediate withdrawal of the order.
In a statement here on Sunday, TPUS president Hanumanth Rao and general secretary Navath Suresh, who criticised the move, said assigning responsibilities meant for mandal educational officers (MEOs) and monitoring officers to teachers would adversely affect the quality of education in the schools due to a dearth of teachers.
The teachers’ union demanded that instead of overburdening teachers, the government should fill up vacant MEO positions besides appointing dedicated monitoring officers. It wanted the government to focus on ensuring one teacher per one class in primary and upper primary schools, and one subject teacher per subject in high schools across the State.
