Telangana: Gold plated Vimana Gopuram of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple unveiled

Yadadri Bhongir: All the efforts put in by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government paid off as the gold-plated Vimana Gopuram (temple tower) at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, at Yadagirigutta was unveiled by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Sunday.
Amidst Vedic chantings, the Chief Minister after performing special pujas unveiled the gold-plated Vimana Gopuram. The entire ceremony and pujas was monitored by Vanamamalai Mutt 31st Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamy.
Standing at 50.5 feet tall, it is now the tallest gold-plated Vimana Gopuram in the country. The Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple’s gold plated gopuram at Tirumala is 33 feet tall.
The decision for gold plating of the Vimana Gopuram at Yadagirigutta was taken in October 2021 by the then Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He even donated one kg and 16 tolas of gold for the purpose and appealed to the people from different sections to donate gold for executing the works.
Accordingly, many politicians, corporates, philanthropists, devotees and others had donated gold. About 68 kgs of gold was used for the gold plating of Vimana Gopuram, which covered 10,759 square feet of space. Nearly Rs 3.90 crore was spent on the gold plating works, officials said. A Chennai-based agency had taken up the work.
