Telangana govt issues order for distribution of health kits to girl students

Hyderabad: The State government has accorded administrative sanction for an amount of Rs 69.52 crore towards procurement and distribution of Adolescent Health Kits to girl students studying in classes 8 to Intermediate 2nd year, in government schools and government colleges.

As per this, a total of 33 lakh sanitary health and hygiene kits would be provided to the girl students by the government. This measure would benefit around 11 lakh girl students of classes 8 to Intermediate 2 year.

For the six months left this financial year, a total of 11 lakh kits comprising a zipper bag, sanitary napkins (6 packs) and a water bottle are to be procured for distribution among girl students. The next year i.e., 2023-24 will have 22 lakh kits being procured.

The expenditure for these kits would be met from the National Health Mission (NHM) funds and in the orders issued, the government has asked the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare and Mission Director (NHM), Hyderabad to take action accordingly.

The concept was announced by the State government in the budget and orders for implementation have been issued accordingly.
