      Kolkata: Rachakonda cops bust call centre which hired Telugu-speaking scamsters

      Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Wednesday arrested nine individuals in Kolkata who ran call centres and employed Telugu-speaking people to dupe people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The fraud call centers, which would dupe victims into parting with their money, ran in Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Mumbai and offered lucrative pay for the job. Moreover, recognizing the potential in the Telugu states, they began to employ people fluent in the language to cheat people in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.       Telangana stands numero uno in latest prison duty meet

      Hyderabad: The state of Telangana secured first place in the country by winning the maximum number of medals and trophies in the sixth national prison duty meet held in Ahmedabad from September 4 to 6. Participants included 960 athletes from 19 states and 68 employees from Telangana prison department. The state managed to bag four trophies along with six gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals. The duty meet was led by Warangal Central Jail Superintendent Sampath. Prison department in-charge Director-General Jitendar and IG Rajesh were praised by minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali at a felicitation ceremony conducted on Wednesday for their efforts and dedication in securing the first place in the country.

      PFI case: NIA conducts fresh raids in AP and Telangana, offices sealed

      Telangana logs 108 new COVID-19 cases

      Hyderabad: Telangana on Wednesday recorded 108 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 8,37,015. Hyderabad district reported the highest number of cases with 47. The bulletin said 116 people recuperated from the infection, raising the cumulative number of recoveries till date to 8,32,186. The recovery rate stood at 99.42 percent. No fresh fatality occurred due to the infectious disease and the death toll continued to be 4,111. The bulletin said 10,613 samples were tested today. The number of active cases was 718, it said.

      Hyderabad: Police books case against cinematographer on charges of threatening woman

      The Banjara Hills police on Wednesday booked a case against Kunapareddy Srinivas, a television serial producer, director and cinematographer, on charges of stalking and threatening a woman who lived opposite his house.
