Secretariat inauguration: Jagadish lashes out at Governor for skipping event

Telangana energy minister G Jagdish Reddy.

HYDERABAD: Energy minister G. Jagadish Reddy on Monday lashed out at Governor Tamillisai Soundararajan and Opposition leaders for skipping the inaugural of the new Secretariat on Sunday even after the state government had extended them invitations.

Terming them as “obstructers to development”, Reddy alleged that they skipped the event because they were unable to digest the development of Telangana.

Speaking to media personnel, the minister said, “The inauguration was an official programme conducted by the state government. It’s not a political programme. The state government followed the protocol and extended invitations to the Governor, MPs, MLAs and MLCs of all parties in the state. What prompted them to stay away from the function? They have shown their true colours with this attitude.”

Stating that the Secretariat building was a symbol of Telangana’s pride and self-respect, he said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, who built the architectural marvel be remembered in history forever.

“It is unfortunate that opposition parties lacked the sense to recognise and acknowledge the good works being done by the state government. They are afraid that they will fade into history. They should realise that development will not stop just because they remain absent from inaugural programmes,” Reddy added.
